Salesforce Lightning

Salesforce Lightning

As of January 2020, the Lightning version of Salesforce is available (and recommended) to all users. The Lightning design intends to streamline the Salesforce navigation for users, increasing ease and decreasing clicks. According to Salesforce.com, “Lightning is the future of the Salesforce platform and user experience. It empowers customers to move faster, do more, and be more productive through reimagined classic features and boosted features available only in Lightning Experience.”

Change is hard, but good!

It is human nature to resist change and seek the familiar, however change is also where growth and efficiency can thrive. Switching to Lightning may be intimidating at first, but the benefits will far exceed any discomfort in the transition.

Here are some common questions and things you can look forward to:

Automation

The Sales Path is a new feature in Lightning that introduces a visual Opportunity pipeline. This streamlines the sales process by working with Stage of Opportunity. The organization of data in this method means greater accuracy and increased standardization across users. What does this mean for your company? Clients receive consistent experiences and new users have shorter training periods. This leads to greater sales and better efficiency, all benefiting your organization.

Cost

Lightning costs the same as Classic, meaning you will increase your abilities and functions without increases your spending.

Mobile Support

Wouldn’t you like to be able to access your company’s data from anywhere at anytime? Well the Salesforce mobile app now allows you to do so. And with Lightning, you can create custom mobile apps that require no knowledge of coding in order to mimic clients or communities. Your ease of access and functionality just multiplied.

Your Timeline

Salesforce Classic will remain exactly as it is, and it is recommended to transition your organization slowly to Lightning so that users have time to learn in stages. There is no rush, and you can determine what feels best for your users.

Future Enhancements

As Salesforce Classic transitions into being an older version, it will no longer receive updates. Therefore, moving forward Lightning will be the growing and developing version of Salesforce. Classic will remain as it is and has been, and Lightning will continue growing into the future of your needs.

How to transition?

All Salesforce users that have the “Lightning Experience User” permission checked in their Profile will be moved to Lightning starting January 2020. Any profile that is a clone of a Standard Salesforce Profile will have “Lightning Experience User” checked by default. If you want to stop your users from getting moved to Lightning, simply go into their Profiles and make sure this setting is unchecked. Classic will still be available for an unknown period of time after this change takes effect, and if you are moved to Lightning you are still able to switch back and forth between Classic and Lightning with the press of a single button. This change happens nearly instantly and can be done as many times as is needed.
